The Progression of the Doctrine Regarding the Sacrificing of the Lamb
In Genesis 4:4, the lamb was sacrificed for the individual....in others words, for his own sins.....Remember Cain and Abel?

And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering....
Gen. 4:4

Then, the sacrifice of the lamb become one for the family or household in Exodus...

Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house: And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats.
Ex. 12:3-5

In the book Leviticus, God commanded sacrifices for Nation of Israel and their sins....

And he shall wash his flesh with water in the holy place, and put on his garments, and come forth and offer his burnt offering, and the burnt offering of the people, and make an atonement for himself and for the people.
Lev. 16:24

So far, the lamb has been used as a sacrifice for first, the person individually...then for the family or those all living in one house. Later in scripture, for all of the nation of Israel.... in the Brit Chadasha, The New Testament, do you remember how John the Baptist referred to Jesus when he first saw Him?

The next day John sees Jesus coming to him and says, Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
John 1:29

Finally, Jesus is the Lamb In the Book of Revelation, there the promise of a Lamb is for ETERNITY...

....saying with a great voice, Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing.
Rev. 5:12

Look at this scripture closely...how many besotowals, promises, were kept and given to Christ in the above scripture? Seven....God's absolute perfect number!

This isn't all by coincidence....it was God's plan from the beginning.

Now let me explain the Passover sacrifices...
The lambs were taken to the Temple where they were kept for four days beginning on Nisan 10. These lambs were put through nealry 50 tests to make sure they were absolutely perfect, without blemish, and that they were PURE....

It was then placed on the altar at 9AM, the morning of the 14th of Nisan, Passover, and remained there until 3 PM.....

And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
Mark 15:25

At that time, the Priest would take a knife and slit the throat of the lamb and would say, "it is finished." Words that Jesus Himself said...AT THE SAME TIME....

Then when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, It is finished! And He bowed His head and gave up the spirit.
John 19:30

After the death of the lamb, it was put on a vertical pole that was fixed upon a horizontal pole, making...you guessed it, A CROSS!

Yes, the cross was a sign of the JEWS. As a side note here, when Moses told the Jewish families living in Egypt of the coming last plague, he said to mark their doorposts and lintels with blood and they did so with the Hebrew letter "tav." What does the Tav look like? A cross.....

In the entire process of this sacrificing of the lamb, not a bone was broken...

In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof.
Ex. 12:46

The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
Ps. 34:17-20

The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
John 19:31-37

Jesus is also referred to as the Firstfruits, another holiday feast of the Jew that Christians are blind to and do not celebrate....but we should be because Jesus was the firstfruits of that day.

These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.
Rev. 14:4

If you want is one scripture, that says Jesus is our Passover Sacrifice.here it is....many Christians do not understand the connection to Passover and Christ. I hope this post has helped.

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
1 Cor. 5:7-8
